Dropout rate in Indian primary, middle and high schools, especially in rural areas, continues to be shamefully high even after 59 years after independence and in spite of innumerable programs taken up by the Government.

The reasons for such high dropout rates among village kids include poverty, lack of awareness about the importance of literacy, and lack of conducive environment.

The magnitude of the problem calls for our concerted efforts, not just by government, but also by all those concerned with the quality of life of the people. That is why SPREAD INTERNATIONAL has been focusing on education with the help of generous people like you.

After discussing with the schoolteachers and village elders, we believe that the following will help in lowering the drop out rates in schools.

First and foremost thing is that we need to extend financial help to kids. Through our help the school kid can acquire the most basic things like books, clothes, food and a conducive environment where the kid can study without much distraction.

• Kids in families earning below Rs10, 000/-per year
• Kids who do not have basic amenities at home.
• Kids who are orphans.
• Kids studying between 6th and 10th class.

The performance of these kids will be reviewed quarterly and our support will be extended depending on the progress and other needs.

As you all know, today's kids are tomorrow's citizens. To make them become better citizens, we have to give them proper education and direction. For this we need your help and commitment. So please sponsor a child by making a commitment of at least $ 20 per month ($ 240 per year). This will help us provide the boarding and study facility.
